It may be Autumn in Melbourne already, but we are lucky to sneak in a few lovely days here and there. Provided you bring a cardi, you can enjoy a bit of a brunch in the sun.
The fabulous ladies at Trashy Diva, who I met while last in New Orleans, kindly sent me this wonderful polka dot version of my favourite Trixie Dress the other day. It’s rare that I go down the polka dot vintage dress road, but for Trixie my wardrobe door is always open. This is without a doubt, my absolute favourite dress block in the range they make. I have it in about seven different prints and fabrics, and that still isn’t enough!
The halter neck and shirred sides make it easily adjustable and very forgiving if you don’t fit a ‘perfect’ size. The folded style bust line is super flattering both on larger and smaller busts. In fact I can comfortably say, that if I were only allowed to have one dress style in my wardrobe, this would be it!

(this is the inadvertent “oops, my head piece is sliding out” pose)
I’m planning on packing all my Trixie dresses for an upcoming tropical jaunt, as not only do they look the business, but they hardly weigh a thing and fold up tiny. This means lots of extra room for all the shopping I plan on doing. And speaking of shopping, if you fancy adding this gorgeous dress or any other of the multitude of spectacular treats from Trashy Diva to your wardrobe, I have a special discount code for you!
Simply enter the code: Kawaii10 in the checkout to get 10% off any orders until the end of May.
Pour yourself a cup of tea and have a little look around their store. Let the love affair begin!

Quaintrelle Georgiana: Thank you 🙂 xx
Hi Candice, I can see why you love this style so much – it is really glam and suits you perfectly. The green cardi is a bit of a surprise but works so well. The Melissa shoes look wonderful (I am still smarting about my only Melissa purchase – rich purple Mary Janes to die for but half a size too small (they will stretch, said sales girl). Silly me, I didn’t know then Melissa only makes plastic shoes that can’t stretch! (At least I found a good home for them – a very tall beautiful girl who wears them salsa dancing).
You do wear a rich red lip like nobody else! Very inspiring!
Sandy: Thank you, I thought the green was something quite different to work with and it really made me think about how to accessorise without being predictable. One of the great things about Melissa shoes is you can often find them on eBay in good condition for a song. I keep building my collection that way. 🙂
yay for the outfit posts!! 🙂 love the dress, shoes & cardi ….i’ve become a little cardi obessed lately & i think i’m the only one on the gold coast who’s excited that the weather has finally cooled down enough to wear them!
Rebecca: Thanks Rebecca! You’re always so encouraging when I manage to make time for these. My life has taken some drastic rescheduling changes so it looks like they will be able to be a regular on the cards again. 🙂
How terrifically pretty! I think navy and white has to be one of my all-time favourite colour combination for classic polka dots. I just got my first ever pair of Miss L Fire shoes this year and they’re in these same colours. You look so smashingly lovely, dear Candice!
Big hugs from Canada,
? Jessica
Jessica: Thank you 🙂 I’m so in LOVE with Miss L Fire and I wish someone stocked a good range here in Australia, but at this stage it is all down to ordering online. I want to buy all the shoes! xx
