An army of perfectly suited “footmen” attends the front foyer; their gloved hands and impeccable manners assist the ladies as they alight from their gleaming Maseratis, Ferraris and Bentleys. Even the sliver of black stone beneath their feet remains unsullied, surreptitiously polished by an invisible man in waiting.
Grey velvet chairs as soft as kittens, couch a gathering of women; their jeweled sandals and four-carat fingers visible from beneath the hems of black Abayas. With my red lips and deeply winged eyes, I feel at home amongst this scene as almost imperceptible nods pass between us. We are all connoisseurs of the artistic face.
There is no haste here, no sense of the rushed executive on a mission, just the elegant serenity that comes with glamour on this scale.
That is such a spellbindingly fantastic view! I love the dancing fountains and am off to see if I can find a YouTube video of them in action (I’ve always really adored fountains and water works shows).
It’s a really lovely treat to get to experience your trip via your posts about it, especially for an armchair international traveler like me.

Jessica: Thank you so much! It is an honour to be able to share these tales from across the world with you all. Should you ever be able to travel the world for real, I highly recommend this makes it onto the top 10 list 🙂
I loved reading your posts about Dubai, Candice. I went in 2011 as a stopover rather than a holiday and I think I need to go back and spend more time there!
