Carefully I am lead to a train of camels, each draped in ornately woven rugs and sturdy reed bars I can grip. With a quiet groan I am lifted skywards and the evening horizon begins to roll with the sway of his slow walk. I want to walk on, onwards into the past and explore the stories of old but the aroma of rice pulls at me.
Rich rugs and tasselled pillows make our dining room. We eat a feast upon wooden plates of breads as light as air and meats as rich as they are soft. Drunk with pleasure I reclined underneath the stars and watched the curls of smoke from the shisha as they lulled us into the close of our evening.
Smiling, our hosts from Platinum Heritage knew that they had changed us. That our smiles, laughs and tears all came from a place of utter joy. That they had treated us to an experience that truly fed us in every way and would be forever a part of our story.
You are right, there is nothing like a desert sunset. So beautiful !
Jaede: With any luck, I’ll be there to see one in April with you in Vegas too! 🙂
Fabulous, It’s a date !
Those moments are truly incredible. I know precisely what you mean and the way that you never, usually for the better, walk away from them the same again. They linger in your mind, shaping future choices and days and reminding you of what a grand and incredible gift each day of life truly is. I’m thrilled for you that you were able to have one of this awesome Middle Eastern adventure, dear Candice.

Jessica: I can honestly say I have returned as a different woman to the one who left Melbourne. My soul is truly richer for this journey. xx
