Cold, wind and rain can not hold a good man, or woman, down.
After many successful years in Brisbane, the Greazefest Kustom Kulture festival took a road trip and came down to Melbourne this weekend. Given that we are used to this event being hosted under sunny skies, it was quite a change and a brave move, to include a Melbourne leg this year. No one knew quite what to expect but I have to say how proud I am of my fellow Melburnians, that so many came out to support the show and have a fantastic time. It is far too easy to stay home watching midday movies and cuddling up under blankets, but the effort paid off.
After last week’s Planning Festival Outfits post, I was well prepared to face the cold and wet of the day. The venue choice of Sandown Raceway made so many things about this weekend a success. It was so easy to drive to (no city traffic), with loads of parking and undercover areas for all the vendors. No muddy fields to walk about in, and a wonderful indoor area including a dance floor, with loads of top notch shopping, places to relax and a stocked up bar to really warm you up.
Yes, I did my bit to support the local economy. I must say that this set up was simply fantastic! Loads of room for the stalls and they were open until very late. The whole feel of the event was reminiscent of the Viva Las Vegas style of indoor vintage shopping that can make a ladies weekend. Well dressed people bopping about, stopping for a chat and the general sense of camaraderie that makes this “scene” so much fun. There was something for everyone from fancy vintage trinkets to Mexican wrestling masks.
Even though I had to dose myself up on cold medicine, it was such a fabulous day I forgot I was even feeing rotten. All those great frocks and red lipstick smiles were enough to warm even the coldest day. As for me and what I wore, I didn’t manage to even get a full picture of my outfit, but I kept it warm and simple. A full circle black skirt, cowboy boots and my favourite Scully shirt. The outfit was topped off though, by these AMAZING earrings from Forbidden Charm. Seriously how great are these?!
Yes, it was a classic weekend all around; thanks fellow revellers!
