A Nuffnang sponsored post… with a wonderful competition for you!
You just never know where life will lead you if you only keep your eyes open.
Whenever you speak to an artist about what inspires them, you’ll quite often hear that it is the little things. That by looking a little deeper into the things we take for granted, that a whole new world of possibilities opens up.
At The Age, this is what drives their stories. Scratch the surface and uncover a world of possibilities; life changing stories are all around us. You’ve probably seen the Forever Curious stories around the place or on T.V. My favourite is the story of the cab driver, Wasim Qureshi. An individual in a role that can so easily become a part of our landscape, we miss the opportunity to look a little deeper and learn something amazing. So, when The Age asked if I’d like to come to MSFW with them, I wondered what exactly they would be doing.
Over the last week or so, The Age has been running secret clues to head down to City Square and meet someone who is “just a tailor”. For those curious minds who figured out the clue and came down to discover the tailor, a fabulous experience awaited them.
While they met with the tailor and told them the story of how they came to be here, individuals were treated to surprise packages including tickets to MSFW runway shows, designer gift vouchers and more. But for a lucky few, something even more extraordinary was awaiting them.
Without knowing where they were to be taken, these ladies were lead down the street (very brave!) to the Melbourne Town Hall and up to the Queen’s Dressing Room. As the large carved door swung open, they were greeted by the smiling faces of two of Melbourne’s emerging designers, Jolet and Kuwaii. Photographers and cameramen jostled for position as the ladies stopped in awe at becoming the center of attention. Looking on, I felt I was on a game show when the ladies nearly fell over backwards as they were introduced to these masters of style.
Not only did they get the chance to have a one on one audience with these talented designers, they also had the unique opportunity to choose which of the designers they wanted to work with, and have their very own custom made piece designed exclusively for them!! (I am SO jealous!!)
Imagine, it basically worked like this – Here I am reading The Age. Oh, this looks like an interesting thing to do. Shows up. Gets taken to a secret location and …. BAM!! Your fashion dream comes true!
One lucky winner has a personal consultation with “Jolet“
The stunning detail and sculptural quality of “Kuwaii“
The collections were exceptional; beautifully crafted and passionately made. We had the most wonderful afternoon together as I got to share in the joy of this experience with the ladies, sipping champagne in the VIP room before that evening’s runway show. It was such a treat to see not only the reward but also the whole VIP Fashion experience through their eyes. The beautifully dressed people, the delicious canapés and the thrill of their first catwalk show. A day they’ll remember forever, and all because they were curious.
One of you could be almost as lucky as these ladies as I have a $100 Kuwaii voucher to give away!!
All you have to do is tell me in the comments:
Would you be curious enough (or brave enough) to go talk to the tailor in the street if you’d seen him? Which designer would you choose for your custom design if you won?!
